Sustainability

Sustainability lies at the heart of our values, and we aim to make a positive impact on both the planet and society.

We were certified carbon neutral in April 2023, and we are proud to belong to a small group of hospitality businesses that can claim this status.

Every business consumes resources, and we are no different. Our ultimate aim is to achieve Net Zero at the earliest opportunity.

To do so will require a fundamental shift in the hospitality supply chain. Until then, we aim to reduce our environmental impact every year by searching for better ways to do what we do and help our supply chain work more sustainably.

To inspire those interested, we have chosen to share some of our systems and practises in the hope that it may help others on a similar journey.

Doing Good

Being sustainable is about more than just having less impact on the planet. It is also about having a positive impact on society. We try to ‘do good’ whenever possible; below are some examples.

Carbon Friendly Dining
Through our partnership with Carbon Friendly Dining and Gift Trees, we offer our guests the opportunity to offset their meal with a voluntary £1.23 donation which plants a fruit tree on their behalf. Each tree is geo-tagged and can be viewed and claimed on the carbon-friendly dining website. Over its 40-year lifespan, each fruit tree will sequester 1 tonne of carbon from the atmosphere, offsetting the carbon emissions created from our guest's meal at The Pig’s Head.

The Carbon Friendly Dining initiative provides employment and security for underprivileged communities in Kenya and Tanzania.

Our guests have planted over 23,000 trees since our opening.

It is important to note that these trees did not and do not form part of the calculation of our carbon footprint. These are a Brucie Bonus!

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
We choose not to profit from selling water. We installed a filtration system that also chills and sparkles water.

We charge tables £1.50 for bottomless still and sparkling water, and we donate this money to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

To date, we have donated over £21,000.
